Impact on Women and Children

The Hunger Project's work in Bangladesh has a profound impact on women and children, as they are often the most vulnerable to the effects of hunger and poverty. By empowering women through education and leadership training, THP helps to break the cycle of poverty and foster resilient, self-reliant communities. The focus on preventing child marriages and promoting girls' education further ensures that young girls have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Every 3 seconds somewhere in the world a child gets married. With a donation to The Hunger Project, you change the life of a girl today.

They're vulnerable to STD's including HIV, increased risk of domestic violence and have limited opportunities for education and employment.

We know women are the key to creating change for girls within their communities. Empowered women can achieve extraordinary impact, catalysing new and brighter futures for girls and their families.

Despite significant progress, Bangladesh faces major hunger challenges, especially in rural areas. The Hunger Project, active in the country since 1990, has become the largest volunteer-based development organization in the country.

Their key Initiatives:

  • Youth engagement: Youth mobilized to fight hunger and advocate for girls' rights.

  • Girls' and women's rights: Promoting gender equality and empowering female leaders.

  • Good governance: Strengthening civil society and addressing religious intolerance and political violence.
